Add a Click to Call link to your website

In an age where mobile rules supreme, you should be doing everything in your power to make your website mobile friendly. Aside from having a responsive or mobile template, having numbers appear as links that can be clicked to make it super simple for mobile visitors to call you is something you can easily do yourself. Today I'll show you how to make a telephone number "clickable" on your website.

Before we dive straight in, I briefly want to mention placement of contact details. Going back 10 years ago, everyone had a contact page that you had to click through to in order to find contact details. These days, the convention is to feature your contact details on every page by incorporating at least a phone number into the header or top most section of your website. Yes, still have a dedicated contact page, but make it as easy as possible for people to contact you. You need to talk and communicate with people to make a sale.

OK, so how do you make a phone number "clickable"? 

1. Open the article or module that contains the phone number.
2. Select the text or image that you want the link to be applied to.
3. Click the link button in your editor toolbar.
   In the JCE Editor the link icon looks like 3 chain links (on the bottom row fifth from the right)
4. This will open a Link pop up window
5. In the URL field add the following:
   tel:xxxxxxxxxx
   1. For example, if your land line number was (08) 9333 4567 you would enter:
      tel:0893334567
   2. If you wanted to link to a mobile like 0412 345 678 you would enter:
      tel:0412345678
   3. If you want to include your country code and area code for +61 (08) 9333 4567 drop the leading zero:
      tel:+61893334567
      The same applies for a mobile with the international dialing code included, drop the leading zero:
      tel:+61412345678
6. Click the Insert/Update button
7. Visit your website using a smart phone and test that the link works!

If you've done it correctly, it should look something like this:

Call INCUB8 on 1300 INCUB8

And you're done! One click and your customers can open your phone number within their phone app to buy your products and services.
